Cueva de los Guanches

An archaeological zone declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) that has yielded the earliest dates for human settlement in the Canary Islands, around the 6th century BC. Oral tradition, recorded by Friar Alonso de Espinosa, identified it as the dwelling of the mencey of Icod.
