A lighthouse designed by José Sanz Soler at the northwestern tip of Tenerife, the works for which were approved in 1889 and carried out between 15 April 1891 and 15 March 1893 using stone brought from La Gomera; it did not come into operation until 7 October 1897. Alongside the original 7.62-metre tower stands a modern concrete lighthouse built since the 1970s.
