Raised to parish status in 1515, it is one of the first churches built on the island and was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) in 1994. It preserves an 18th-century Baroque main altarpiece and the oldest equestrian image of Santiago Apóstol in the Canary Islands.
