La Fuente Santa Historical milestone · Fuencaliente de la Palma, La Palma, Santa Cruz de Tenerife A hot spring with medicinal properties, already known to the aboriginal islanders, which gave the municipality its name and attracted such a flow of visitors that the settlement of Las Indias grew up beside it. The lava flow from the San Antonio volcano buried it under some 70 metres of lava in 1677; a team of engineers from the Government of the Canary Islands relocated it in 2005 via a 200-metre tunnel next to the beach of Echentive. sepultada en 1677; redescubierta en 2005 Photo: Hans-Peter Balfanz (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Fuencaliente de la Palma
