Iglesia de Santo Domingo de Guzmán (antiguo convento de San Pedro Apóstol)

Monument · Hermigua, La Gomera, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Image of Hermigua, not of the place itself.

A former Dominican convent founded on 18 March 1611 on the site of an earlier hermitage dedicated to San Pedro, built in 1598 after an earlier one was destroyed by a flood in 1596. For centuries it was the cultural and religious centre of the island's north, until its closure in 1821 during the disentailment of the Liberal Triennium.
