El calado de Ingenio y su museo

Ingenio is the birthplace of calado, traditional counted-thread embroidery done mostly by women in rural areas, organized in the Asociación de Caladoras de La Villa de Ingenio. The Museo de Piedra y Artesanía Canaria, active since 1964 in a traditional house, brings together more than five thousand stones and displays this and other local crafts such as stonework, basketry and palm-leaf work.
