The mountain range around Villarroya de los Pinares, at 1,337 meters above sea level, lies in the northern part of the Sierra de Gúdar, next to the source of the Guadalope river. The town, with its 1459 Gothic church dedicated to the Virgen de la Asunción, was declared a historic-artistic site in 1982.
