Jiloca saffron, considered one of the finest spices in the world, has traditionally been grown throughout the Jiloca valley, of which Monreal del Campo was for many years the hub. The district's altitude, between 700 and 900 metres, together with its cold winters and short but hot summers, offers ideal conditions for growing this plant, of great historical importance in the area.
