The patron saint festivities of Híjar are held from 19 to 23 August in honour of the Virgen del Carmen and the Virgen de Arcos; they were traditionally held in September, but in the 1970s were moved to August to make it easier for those from Híjar living elsewhere to take part. On 17 January San Antón is also celebrated, with the blessing of animals.
