Cultural Park of the Vero River Nature · Colungo, Somontano de Barbastro, Huesca Image of Colungo, not of the place itself. The Vero River Cultural Park extends at the foot of the central Pyrenees, between the Sierra de Guara and Somontano, in the province of Huesca; its northern area forms part of the Sierra y los Cañones de Guara natural park, while the southern area corresponds to the transition towards the Ebro depression. Structured around the Vero River, it brings together nine municipalities, including Colungo, over an area of 245.5 square kilometres with 18,000 inhabitants. It is renowned for its rock art complexes in caves and rock shelters along the Vero River, included, within the Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin on the Iberian Peninsula ensemble, in UNESCO's 1998 World Heritage declaration.
