La Morisma de Aínsa Curiosity · Aínsa-Sobrarbe, Sobrarbe, Huesca Image of Aínsa-Sobrarbe, not of the place itself. La Morisma de Aínsa (Huesca) is a popular theatrical performance held in even-numbered years, on the last Sunday of August. It re-enacts the reconquest of the town by the Christian armies, aided, according to legend, by the appearance of a cross of fire over a holm oak. The tradition is linked to the conquest of the fortress by King García Jiménez in the year 724, a founding episode that the performance brings back to life before the public every two years.
