Citadel of Jaca Monument · Jaca, La Jacetania, Huesca The Ciudadela of Jaca, known until the 19th century as the castle of San Pedro, is a bastioned fortress of pentagonal plan and Italian design located in this city in Huesca. It was declared a Monumento Histórico-Artístico (a former heritage-protection category in Spain) on 28 June 1951 and restored in 1968. One of its pavilions houses the Museo de Miniaturas Militares, with 23 dioramas bringing together more than 35,000 lead figures about two centimetres tall that recreate battle scenes from Ancient Egypt to the present day, with special attention to Spanish military history. In 2021 the Sala de Batallas was also opened, with works donated to the State by Pedro Ramón y Cajal. The Ciudadela was used by the army until 2008, when it passed to be managed by the town council.
