A tradition unique to La Algaba: on the evening of 7 December, the townspeople of each district build large bonfires ('candelas') topped with a rag figure called a 'júa,' around which carols are sung, in remembrance of the vigils held while awaiting news about the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.
