In 1925 the so-called 'fragments of El Rubio' were found there, part of tablet VIII of the Lex Ursonensis, the Roman municipal law of neighboring Osuna. The village, whose coat of arms recalls its past under the Order of Santiago, achieved municipal independence from Osuna in the early 20th century.
