With 142,519 inhabitants (2025), it is the ninth-largest city in Andalusia and the second most populous municipality in the province of Seville, 14 km from the provincial capital, with altitudes between 2 and 106 m over 160.48 km². Its first documented mention dates from April 1405, in a royal order issued in Seville; according to legend, its founding is linked to the sisters Elvira and Estefanía Nazareno, who are said to have found a Gothic image of Saint Anne in a cave. It reached the status of villa in the early 1570s, and in 1679 the marquisate of Dos Hermanas was created. Photo: Sara gonzález gordo (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Dos Hermanas
