Castilleja de Guzmán, del Chalcolítico a los condes Village · Castilleja de Guzmán, Comarca Metropolitana de Sevilla, Seville Image of Castilleja de Guzmán, not of the place itself. Municipality of 2,843 inhabitants (2025) and just 2.04 km², at 131 m altitude and 6 km from Seville; one of the smallest in the province. With Chalcolithic remains from the 3rd millennium BC, after the Reconquista of Seville Ferdinand III granted it in 1249 to the Order of Santiago; Alfonso X transferred it in 1251 to the Order of Alcántara (hence 'Castilleja de Alcántara'), and it took its current name in the early 16th century when the lordship passed to the House of Guzmán.
