Señorío y marquesado de Jabalquinto Historical milestone · Jabalquinto, Sierra Morena, Jaén Image of Jabalquinto, not of the place itself. The lordship of Jabalquinto was established in the 14th century out of the depopulated Islamic settlement of Estivel, ceded by Baeza to Día Sánchez de Biedma; repopulation attempts did not succeed and by around 1578 the settlement was once again deserted. Manuel de Benavides y Mendoza became the first lord in 1446, a title raised to marquisate in 1617, and the house eventually merged into those of the Counts of Benavente and Dukes of Osuna.
