Fundación de Guarromán como Muzquia Historical milestone · Guarromán, Sierra Morena, Jaén Image of Guarromán, not of the place itself. As part of the New Settlements (Nuevas Poblaciones) of Sierra Morena promoted by Carlos III under the Fuero de Población of 1767, Pablo de Olavide repopulated Guarromán with Central European colonists -Germans, Belgians, French, Italians, Austro-Hungarians and Swiss- and Spanish families from Catalonia, Valencia and Galicia. The settlement came to be called Muzquia in honour of the Secretary of State Miguel de Múzquiz. Photo: kallerna (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Guarromán
