Fortress from the late 13th century, built as part of the Banda Gallega defensive line facing Portugal, with a keep from the late 15th century; protected as Monumento Histórico-Artístico (Spain's heritage designation in force between 1931 and 1985) since 1949 and returned to municipal management after its restoration in 2006.
