Carta Puebla y fundación de San Silvestre de Guzmán Historical milestone · San Silvestre de Guzmán, Costa Occidental, Huelva Image of San Silvestre de Guzmán, not of the place itself. In 1531 Silvestre de Guzmán, Marquis of Ayamonte, granted the pastures of Los Verdes and Campanillas to repopulate the area, and in 1595 his successor Francisco de Guzmán issued the founding charter (Carta Puebla) that gave rise to San Silvestre de Guzmán, granting permission to 42 vassals who already lived scattered across the area.
