What to see and do in Soportújar

Soportújar
Village
Resettled after the expulsion of the Moriscos in 1572, in 2025 it has 260 inhabitants.
El 'pueblo de las brujas'
Curiosity
The residents' traditional nickname of 'witches and warlocks,' of purely folkloric origin with no real historical basis, gave rise in 2009 to the Feria del Embrujo (Spell Fair), which has turned the claim into a tourism driver for the village.
Iglesia de Santa María la Mayor de Soportújar
Monument
Single-nave church built between 1877 and 1880, with an 18th-century Baroque altarpiece by the architect Fabio Gago.
Feria del Embrujo de Soportújar
Activity
Weekly fair with music, street parades and children's activities, in keeping with Soportújar's reputation as the "village of witches".
