What to see and do in La Victoria

La Victoria
Village
Municipality of the Valle Medio del Guadalquivir with 2,320 inhabitants (2025), at 228 m altitude and 29 km from the city of Córdoba. Before its independence it was an extensive olive grove known as 'La Guijarrosa', belonging to the municipality of La Rambla and linked to the Minim friars of San Francisco de Paula (land donated in 1552); it achieved municipal emancipation on 19 March 1812, under article 310 of the Constitution of Cádiz. This former name should not be confused with the present-day municipality of La Guijarrosa, in the Campiña Sur comarca, a separate entity.
Torre de Don Lucas y Toro de Riaza (La Victoria)
Monument
The Torre de Don Lucas is a structure of Islamic origin, possibly Almohad (12th century). The Toro de Riaza, an Iberian stone sculpture, was discovered within the municipality in 1973.
Casa Capilla de los Monjes Mínimos
Monument
The estate of 'La Victoria Vieja,' with houses, a wine cellar, a wine press, a trough and jars, vineyards and trees, was donated on 26 January 1552 to the Minim friars of San Francisco de Paula; its chapel bears an 18th-century brick doorway with a niche of the Immaculate Conception.
Iglesia de San Pedro de Alcántara (La Victoria)
Monument
A church built in 1818; on 30 August of that same year the newly built temple hosted the Holy Pastoral Visit of Bishop Pedro Antonio de Trevilla. It was extended in the 1960s.
La Piedra del Trueno
Curiosity
A stone located beside a path in La Victoria, theorized to have been a boundary marker or menhir placed along the route people used to carry their dead to the spot known as Riaza.
Dehesa de Tocina
Nature
A wooded pasture of holm oaks located north of the municipal term of La Victoria, covering 233.2 hectares, host to the San Isidro pilgrimage.

Historical milestone
During the Peninsular War, in 1810, the town was known as 'La Guijarrosa'; in 1973 an Iberian sculpture was discovered by chance within its municipal term.
Chacinería de La Victoria
Food and drink
La Victoria is known for its charcuterie, with chorizos called 'rosarios' and onion black puddings; traditional dishes include judías palomeras (a local bean), roscón de melón, maimones and oranges with cod.
Mandifest y ARTSUR
Curiosity
La Victoria has hosted the Mandifest music festival in August since 2011 and, since 2014, ARTSUR, an annual contemporary art festival.
