Castillo nazarí de Setenil Monument · Setenil de las Bodegas, Sierra de Cádiz, Cádiz Image of Setenil de las Bodegas, not of the place itself. A 13th-century fortress of Nasrid origin, the stage for the successive Christian sieges that preceded the 1484 conquest, in Setenil de las Bodegas (Sierra de Cádiz). The capture of the town was key to the advance of the Crown of Castile towards Granada, although the first siege, in 1407, did not yield the expected result; it was the siege of 21 September 1484 that led to the final victory. The fortress retains its entire perimeter wall, 530 metres of ramparts with around forty towers, and is one of the few Nasrid fortresses that keep their medieval urban layout intact. s.
