Vino Moscatel de Chipiona Food and drink · Chipiona, Costa Noroeste, Cádiz A sweet wine made from muscatel grapes sun-dried in the so-called 'jardines' or drying yards next to the coastal vineyards of Chipiona (Cádiz), from the muscat of Alexandria variety, a historic winemaking tradition of the municipality within the framework of the Jerez denominations. It is an artisanally made wine that has come close to disappearing, among other reasons because of competition from the construction sector for farmland: in 2006 only three wineries and one cooperative remained, together producing around 640,000 litres, sold mostly in bulk in the town itself.
