Real Teatro de las Cortes Monument · San Fernando, Bahía de Cádiz, Cádiz The Real Teatro de las Cortes, in San Fernando, was built in the early 19th century, at a time of great demographic and economic growth for the city; formerly known as the Corral or Casa de Comedias, and until 2001 as the Teatro de las Cortes, it is this very building - not an earlier one - where the deputies who drafted the Spanish Constitution of 1812 met, between 24 September 1810 and 20 February 1811, before moving to Cádiz. After years of neglect, it was refurbished and reopened in 1999, when its historical value as a decisive setting for Spanish constitutionalism was recognised. Today it continues to host theatrical performances in the city of Cádiz. s. XIX; sede de las Cortes 1810-1812 Photo: Jcn502 (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in San Fernando
