Beach of la Barrosa Nature · Chiclana de la Frontera, Bahía de Cádiz, Cádiz A beach of about 8 kilometres located in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz), which stretches from the cliff separating it from Sancti Petri beach to the Loma del Puerco. On 5 March 1811 it was the setting for the Battle of Chiclana or of La Barrosa, in which Anglo-Spanish troops defeated the French during the Peninsular War; from that period the Torre Bermeja and the Torre del Puerco are preserved. Awarded the Blue Flag almost every year, it is the best known beach in Chiclana and concentrates much of the hotel offer of the Costa de la Luz in the Novo Sancti Petri development, with about twenty 4- and 5-star hotels and the golf course designed by Severiano Ballesteros, opened in 1990.
