Cortijo (rural farmstead) declared Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) under the Historic Site category in 2010. The events that took place there on 22 July 1928, when the bride of an arranged wedding fled with another man on the eve of the ceremony, inspired Federico García Lorca's 'Blood Wedding'.
