The municipal term looks out onto Sierra Nevada through the Sierra de Montenegro (Pico Galayo, 1,715 m) and the Mencal massif, crowned by a cross at 933 m. Part of the municipality (10.64%) lies within the Sierra Nevada National Park, and the Barranco de los Catalanes, where it flows into the Nacimiento River, forms one of the most cherished spots in the area.
